Beverly Vista School

Laura Rogers

Greetings Parents and Students:

I am truly thrilled to be working with you! This will be my ninth year with BHUSD and my fifth year teaching Middle School students at Beverly Vista. Prior to working in Beverly Hills, I worked at a non-public school in Los Angeles for over twelve years. I am also proud to serve as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team at Beverly Vista and look forward to collaborating with my colleagues throughout the year.

I received my undergraduate degree in Art History and English from Skidmore College in New York and my Master’s Degree in Education from Antioch University. I have since continued my studies at UCLA.

When I am not in the classroom, I spend as much time as possible with my family exploring new places or in the ocean. I am most often paddle-boarding, swimming, or snorkeling. This summer our family traveled to Italy to visit the birthplace of the Renaissance. In previous years, we have snorkeled with stingrays off a barrier reef in the Caribbean, giant, green sea turtles (200-700 lbs.) in the Pacific Ocean and gentle, 35ft long whale sharks in the Gulf of Mexico.

It is my mission to provide and encourage learning opportunities for students by fostering meaningful, inquisitive, thoughtful habits of character and mind. It is my hope that students will demonstrate leadership, self-reliance, involvement, and interest in their community and the world. To this end, we will incorporate strategies to increase mindfulness practice and leadership skills into our weekly routine. Throughout the school year, I will be in constant collaboration with you, your child and your child’s core teachers. Please feel free to set times to meet or talk on the phone to discuss your child’s progress or any observations that you may have to share. Frequent and consistent collaboration and open dialogue enable all of us to be more successful.

I am looking forward to an exciting and successful year!
