2018 Halloween Costume Guidelines

As you begin to plan out your costumes for Halloween we would like to share with you the district guidelines for students.

Make sure your costume is respectful and in good taste. Be kind! Keep it fun! Please be mindful of your actions. The following guidelines are important to ensure that all of our students are safe and appropriately dressed for Halloween:

-Costumes that do not comply with the BHUSD and Beverly Vista School dress code may not be worn.
-Costumes may NOT include real, replica, or fake guns/ knives/other weapons/dangerous objects, or any item that is not allowed on campus.
-No blood or references to hate or violence.
-Costumes that are insensitive to gender, ethnicity, religion, race or individual (staff, student or other) are strictly prohibited.
-Costumes may not cause a disruption or distraction to the school program.
-No costumes that would completely hide the identity of the student, i.e. Hazmat suit, gorilla suit, dinosaur.
-Masks are only allowed during the elementary Halloween parade.
-Footwear must be appropriate for daily activities.

In addition, students should not bring Halloween candy to school for snacks or lunch. Students wearing inappropriate costumes, as determined by teachers and administration, will be sent home to change their clothes. Thank you.

If you have any questions about your costume, please ask Mr. Regan or Mr. Bugbee.
