Welcome to the Preschool Program! We hope everyone has had a restful summer and is as excited to start this school year as we are. School begins on Tuesday, August 25th at 9am. We have compiled some information about our school site and procedures to assist you in settling into our program. Please do not hesitate to call any of us at any time if you have any questions at all.
Classroom Wish List
Because we will be doing cooking activities and having snack each day we would appreciate some supply donations: Baby wipes, hand sanitizer, plain white paper plates, big and small (No Styrofoam), paper bowls, napkins/paper towels, plastic forks, knives and spoons, small paper cups, tissues, zip-lock bags(any size), hand soap, dish soap, Magic Erasers (Mr. Clean), a box of band-aids, any size batteries, Snacks such as goldfish/crackers/pretzels and table wipes (Clorox, Lysol).
Our principal is Christian Fuhrer and our assistant principal is Alyssa Para. Andi and Cindy are our office assistants.
Our classroom assistants this year are Shirley, Claudia, Stephanie, Glenna, Meredith, Ellie, Freddy, and Roya.
The school day is from 9:00-12:00 for all students each day. We will focus on many important skills in the first few minutes of the day and so it is important for your child to arrive to school on time. Drop off and pick up will be at the main entrance near the flag pole.
It is also important that your child be picked up on time. Children become anxious when their parents are late. If you are more than 5 minutes late picking up your child, you will need to go to the main office to pick them up as we have meetings and appointments directly following the end of the school day. If anyone else will be picking up your child or if your child is going home with another parent, please let us know and make sure they are written on the emergency card.
We will send home any child whose nose is running too much. We know that frequently pediatricians will put your child on antibiotics and your child may not be contagious. However, if their nose is really running, we will ask you to keep them home. For the health and safety of all of the students and staff, we cannot have any bodily fluids on the toys, clothes, other children, teachers, etc. Also, please remember that children need to be vomit or fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
We will be having one meal in the classroom. This is a great opportunity to facilitate language and social skills along with feeding skills. Please send your child to school each day with a healthy snack/lunch, please no candy, cookies, etc. Also, please note any dietary restrictions your child may have.
We request that the children wear closed-toe shoes. This means no sandals. This is for safety reasons. Also, if your child is wearing a skirt/dress, please be sure to wear shorts or tights underneath. Please label all jackets, sweaters, etc. as things frequently get taken off by a child and mixed up.
If you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday at school, please let us know in advance. We will let you know what a good time would be. We suggest that you bring a drink and a small treat as well as any paper goods you may need.
Please do not allow your child to bring personal toys to school unless specified by the teacher. They are distracting to your child as well as others.
Please send an updated change of clothes for your child in case of accidents. Please label all clothing with your child’s name. If your child is still in diapers please bring in an ample supply of diapers and wipes for school use. When your child is low on diapers we will ask you to replenish the supply.
We encourage you to join our PTA. We would love 100% participation. The PTA has been very generous with us in the past and we want to be supportive.
We are planning a couple of great field trips this year. We will be supplying you with all the information you need as the dates get closer.
Each Friday we will be sending home a folder. It will contain things to keep at home such as student work and school information as well as things that need to be returned such as permission slips, any signed paper work and book orders. It is important that you review the items in the folder and return it on Mondays. This year we will be sending a lot of information home via email in the interest of saving paper. Please check your email regularly to be sure you don’t miss anything of importance.
Please feel free to schedule a time to talk with us whenever questions or concerns arise. These conferences are perfect times for us to talk without the child present.
If you would like to be on the class phone/email list please give us your contact information ASAP.
Thank you for all of your support. We are looking forward to a productive, healthy and happy year!
