Middle School
Middle School Classes
In grades six through eight, students at Beverly Vista School attend classes in a departmentalized program. At each grade level there is a team of teachers consisting of a math teacher, an English/language arts teacher, a history/social science teacher, and a science teacher. A team of specialists, who cover several grade levels, teach a wide variety of elective classes and support programs. Course requirements are as follows:
Sixth Grade
- Two periods of Language Arts (Both periods are with the same teacher and the same group of students.)
- One period of Mathematics
- One period of Social Science (World History - Dawn of Humans through Ancient Rome)
- One period of Science (Earth Science)
- One period of Physical Education
- One period of an elective class (Art, Choir, Computers, Beginning Band, or Beginning Orchestra)
Seventh Grade
- One period of Language Arts
- One period of Mathematics
- One period of Social Science (World History - Fall of Rome through the Enlightenment)
- One period of Science (Life Science)
- One period of Physical Education
- One period of Foreign Language (French or Spanish)
- One period of an elective class (See Electives)
Eighth Grade
- One period of Language Arts
- One period of Mathematics
- One period of Social Science (U.S. History - Colonial History through the Civil War)
- One period of Science (Physical Science)
- One period of Physical Education
- Two periods of elective classes (See Electives)
